Today has really been a 15 hour day working to get the CNC finished. Unfortunately we had forgotten that our shafts for the Y-axis would not be here until tomorrow (Tuesday). Hopefully the UPS man comes early... He normally comes between 11AM – 1PM and our Kickstarter project ends around 1PM. Certai...

Just a very quick update. We are working our butts off to have a fully working production prototype model done today. Our funding ends tomorrow, so I hope to have this to show you guys before everything ends. First of all, we have completed a Z-Axis.. sort of. The top mold is not ready so the top to...

We aren't allowed to discuss that at this time... but those links that were provided should at least allow you to give a few different software packages a try.

In Update #12 we posted the first part of our aluminum mold to create a plastic cast Z-axis. We finally have the 2nd mold for the z-axis finished and it works great! This mold has 8 parts that need to be removed in order to demold the plastic part. It is virtually indestructible and will last hundre...

Unfortunately that type of USB to Parallel converter doesn't work. It isn't fast enough to translate the thousands of pulses a second the CNC controller requires. The only real viable solution for USB to Parallel is the Smooth Stepper: http://www.warp9td.com/ Its pretty expensive. You might be bette...

It’s been a while since we have posted an update. A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to make improvements to the design, test parts and develop manufacturing methods. We are finally at the point where we have a design that we are happy with and can ramp things up into mass production....

Currently we are using 280oz-in torque motors with bipolar motor controllers. We are also looking into alternative electronics for even more power.

Update #12: New Plastic Z-Axis - HUGE SUCCESS!

Back in Update #2 we talked about changes to the Z-Axis from our initial design. From our original design we evolved to an I-Beam construction made out of MDF. We were concerned with the structural integrity from the MDF and started looking into alternative constructions. Our initial thought was to ...

Re: Mac operated version?

Do you have any plans for a Mac operated version? Our machine is not dependant on any kind of computer platform. That is up to the control software which runs the machine. At this time, there is no Mac software that we are aware of. Certainly the Mac could dual boot into either Windows or Linux to ...

Update #11: Electronics are done. Motors are alive!

Just a quick update here. The electronics have been fully wired, and are working! We haven't had a chance to tune them and get the settings adjusted right but we are certainly on the right track. Check out the video on our Kickstarter page here.
