Just wanted to give you guys an update. I started working on the front end code about two weeks ago. I've added about 10k lines of new code and am absolutely thrilled with the way it is turning out. Everything has been functioning exactly like I've drawn out and its starting to fall into place. Ther...

I haven't written nearly that many, but I've been doing PHP stuff for a long time. I still consider myself a novice. This is the first project that I've done where I want a fully working and full featured backend for administration. The idea will be that once I have that all done I can hire a few pe...

I've written nearly 20k lines of backend code over the last two months (in addition to doing my regular jobs). http://i.imgur.com/4qHGAXF.jpg This weekend is going to be a 3 day programming marathon. I hope to finish up as much of the front end code as I can. I don't get to take holidays or vacations.

You certainly could use 3 sliders, but I would try to use 2 sliders and 1 shaft per side. When engineering things like a sliding / rotation shaft, I have always been taught that any more than 2 support points on a shaft and you are going to have alignment problems. Almost every major power tool or a...

I didn't notice that you had 4 bars running lengthwise down the machine. Anything over 2 could result in jamming if not in perfect alignment. I would recommend placing two sliders side by side (is that what you're thinking of?) vs. the two bars up and down. I would actually eliminate the bottom bars...

I'm hoping to be done by the end of July.

Fixed the wiki page.

The chip can run from 3v to 5.5v.

Due is most likely TTL, and Unos are closer to CMOS levels.

The driver chip should be able to handle either.

Hopefully that is true. The controller is only listening on those pins. Though feedback and problems can happen (murphy's law). You could opto isolate the controller if you are worried though. One of the reasons why I would recommend starting with the Uno is the fact that the DIP chip is only a few ...
